The Importance of Personalized Lactation Care
TLDR: everyone deserves GREAT lactation care.
If you’ve found yourself here in this little corner of the internet, you probably have a personal reason as to why lactation support is important. Let me share why I think it’s critical and why supporting families in this space has become my mission to support the Northern Colorado (Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland, Wellington, Greeley*) community.
Breastfeeding is natural, not intuitive, and hopefully you have gotten a chance to sit with a lactation professional after the birth of your child for some tips on how to succeed. Research shows that most parents want to breastfeed (over 83% nationwide and 94% here in Colorado start out breastfeeding per the CDC Breastfeeding Report Card), so why are less than half (32%) of these people making it to six months exclusively breastfeeding? Lack of readily available support, education and information.
There’s a term called “the zone of professional unavailability” and it is speaking specifically to days 3-7 postpartum. You have left the hospital, and now you are home with your new baby and it’s hard; you’ve forgotten what they said, you and your baby are tired and frustrated. Support in this space is critical, and being able to receive that support in the comfort of your home is magical.
Often times, one lactation consult is enough to set you up for long term success (whatever that looks like for you). While I can never guarantee that one visit is all it will take, I see it often enough to know it is possible. What else is certain is that you will know how to get support for your specific situation when something comes up along your breastfeeding path…and that is worth it’s weight in (liquid) gold.

Hi, I’m Angela
Owner of Motherhood Untamed Lactation & Education
IBCLC, CLC, Holding Space Consultant & New Parent Educator
TLDR: 3 kids. IVF Mom. Miscarriage Mom. Wife. WY born. Speaker. Advocate. Bad Dancer.
I am a mom to three amazing little humans and wife to my favorite big human. I’m originally from Wyoming but moved to Fort Collins on my 18th birthday to attend C.S.U. and haven’t looked back since. I have my B.A. in Speech Communication with a focus on Interpersonal Communication, I’m an IBCLC Lactation Consultant, Certified New Parent Educator and La Leche League Leader and a Holding Space Consultant. Working with new parents while they navigate what parenthood and newborn life looks like is what sets my soul on fire. Helping clients nourish their babies and overcome any breastfeeding challenges that present themselves is my passion.
Motherhood isn’t just what I have spent the last half a decade wading through; it’s the song in my soul that won’t stop singing. My journey to parenthood included road bumps I never saw coming; recurrent miscarriages, fertility clinics - IUIs, IVF, and topped off with a surprise pregnancy. My path has never gone “to plan” and for that I have eventually become grateful. My experiences on the road to becoming a mom, as well as my experiences in parenthood have molded me to be who I am now.
If you find yourself reading this because you’re needing help with anything from newborn life to breastfeeding concerns, I would be honored to meet with you.
I laugh loudly. I sing a lot. I’m always here to listen. And I am so glad that you are here.

The Story of Motherhood Untamed
It Started As a Whisper
When I became a mom, I quickly became passionate about all things babies and parenthood. It was shocking to me that the instant my baby was born I became “Mom” to everyone and “Angela” seemingly ceased to exist. “Mom” was a title I had always wanted, so why was the transition into motherhood so difficult? Breastfeeding was supposed to be natural but it surely didn’t seem intuitive and parenting this little human often felt…lonely. I started dreaming of a way that I could support families during this transition. I started to dream about “someday” as my heart whispered in quiet moments that this is what I was born to do; create something that could help families navigate new parenthood with grace and support.
It Became a Flutter
With the birth of my second child, the whisper in my heart became a constant flutter. Second time parenthood was a beautiful thing and yet, still surprisingly difficult. I continued to seek the support and love that I wanted the first time around. Breastfeeding, although I had done this successfully before came with new challenges and now I had a toddler to bring to any appointments I might need. I started dreaming again about someday; about supporting families in my community. About providing breastfeeding education and support from the comfort of their couch while any older children could play. I started researching certifications and business models and mentally drafting a plan for someday.
It Morphed Into A Hummingbird
Somewhere in my daughter’s first year of life, the thing that started as a whisper and became a flutter was now a hummingbird. Someday had become the dream that fluttered its wings inside my chest in almost constant motion. I started working on my certifications, I started talking to community connections and telling them about someday. While the timing of starting something so new never feels totally right, there was a constant nudge in my soul that the time was now. So I went to work. Someday became all I could think about; how supporting families through new parenthood initially or with subsequent babies and helping people reach their infant feeding goals would become my life’s work. With a lot of dedication and support from my loving village, Motherhood Untamed was born; someday had arrived.
