FAQs

What is an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant?

IBCLCs are the top credential for lactation care. Not only are we highly educated and have passed an extensive board exam; we have thousands of hours working hands on with moms and babies. International Board Certified Lactation Consultants function and contribute as members of the maternal-child health team. They provide care in a variety of settings, while making appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community support resources.

What makes this clinic different?

You’ll get the support of a highly educated team of IBCLCs. We believe every family is different and every journey should feel held. Evidence based practices combined with years of real world experience make for the perfect recipe for support. Oh, and there is also bad dancing, mom jokes and sometimes singing. Meet the team here.

Do you come to me or do I go to you?

Motherhood Untamed’s services are provided either at your home, at our Fort Collins office or virtually. Whatever serves you and your family’s needs best is how we will connect. If we come to you there is a home visit fee (not covered by your insurance policy).

$30 for within 20 min of our office and $60 for 20-40 min

Is my lactation consult covered by insurance?

Most likely! We accept United Health Care (and subsidiaries like UMR), Aetna, Meritain and CHP+ (please note you need a referral for CHP+) - Check out coverage info here. Regardless of insurance coverage, lactation visits are eligible to be paid under your HSA/FSA spending account and we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your carrier to seek reimbursement for times we can’t bill directly.

Can my older kids be with me during our sessions?

One of the benefits of working with Motherhood Untamed is the flexibility and family-first environment. Need to have your toddler with you? Great! Supporting families is the main goal, and that means taking the stress of “What do I do with sibling for this appointment?!” away.

What is rhythmic movement and how does it help babies feed?

Rhythmic movement involves gentle, patterned motions—like rocking, swaying, or guided stretches—that help a baby organize their nervous system and improve muscle coordination. By supporting core strength, neck and jaw stability, and oral motor control, these movements can make latching easier, reduce nipple pain, and support more efficient feeding.
